Baba Brothers and Sacred Sisters,

How did the dailyD begin?  It started with me sending milo, luke, and dk passages from AS IT IS.  These passages blazed and lived in my heart in such a way that I could not keep them to myself.  They expressed exactly what I was going through at the time.  They were the salt, sting, salve, and sadhana solution all in one.  Little by little the email and book list grew.  For some reason I kept the sisters and brothers separate for months.  Then one day I sent a dailyD to both groups, who until then, didn't know the other existed.  For a long time I used to write out the dailyD email list by hand and from memory.  When it got too big I finally cut and pasted your names.  In August of 2008 I wrote something like, "Deal with the fact that you get dailyD's every day!  And no, you can't unsubscribe!  Worry not, once I'm done with AS IT IS the dailyD will be done too."  So it's perfect that I finish AS IT IS  just after Luke and Milo's birthdays and on dk's birthday (Bliss Birthday you Bastard Brother!)  AS of today, the dailyD goes under-guru-ground.  It sure as chit shall resurface again in the form of volume 4 whenever that happens to be.

Thank you for taking time to read the dailyD day after day.  Sending you these passages has been savior to me.  The passages I send have always been an intimate map of my sadhana--do I have a sadhana?  It's never ceased to amaze me how on the day I'm going through this I find just that in my morning readings.  Some of you have indicated that many of the passages I've sent out also speak to you right where you're at.  As Miraculous wrote to me recently:

"couldn't be more apropo.. for me.. as usual.  i love it when you include a passage from yourself.. something you're hashing out and working on. i think when you're pranically close to someone, you tend to be working on similar stuff. it makes sense, no? because of how our pranic experience is reflected in our outer worlds, obviously in our asanas, in our road system, in our stars, in our relationships... why not in the mind's of our dear ones?

love You. 'see you later if I see you at all' to quote your favorite: Elliot Smith.

"At the beginning of the questions Lee had handed a written question to the translator and said, 'After everyone else's questions are answered, if there is still time, here is my question.'...She read the question aloud in English.  It was essentially a question about whether Lee, in his position of authority, should warn a seeker who is approaching a teacher whom Lee knows to be a false teacher, who has unethical sexual relations with his students and so on.  Or, on the other hand, should he remain silent on the subject and not interfere with the karmic situation at all.

Rinpoche responded, 'With regard to spiritual guides, it is the karma of a disciple to be attracted to one teacher over another.  Many beings, because of karma, are attracted to teachers who may not be pure practitioners.  Pure view is the issue; if the disciple has pure view, then the disciple has the opportunity to realize great enlightenment.  Even if we are in a position of authority, it is not our responsibility to influence with regard to guides.  We cannot know the full influences (what goes on between masters and disciples).  Likewise we cannot comprehend the activities of a great master.  Many masters have appeared in many different ways for the purpose of benefitting others.  Therefore we should allow people to go their own way.  If we interfere, we can incur karma.  We should keep the faults of other teachers to ourselves and allow other beings to go the way of their own karma.'

After Rinpoche gave his answer Lee nodded his head once and said, thank you."

"Today, the last day of the Celebration, Lee scheduled a yajna fire--a sacrificial fire--from eleven-thirty in the morning to one-thirty in the afternoon...It is a time when Lee's students are given the opportunity to make offerings of those things which symbolize something in themselves they wish to be purified in the heat of sadhana...as with everything in sadhana, intention and effort plays an important role.  Grace is the other vital element, but it is beyond any human concept or construct of the mind.  Who can speak of Grace as if it could be known?  To allow oneself to be absorbed into the power of the fire, to be bathed in its heat and smoke, might be enough to find the heart melting, burned to ash.  At the same time, what one gets out of sadhana is in exact proportion to what one puts into it, and action counts.  To burn every photograph, letter and emblem, for example, from a ten-year marriage to a former partner who might in some way now wymbolize one's resistance to sadhana requires serious contemplation and commitment.  In one resolute and potent act, the tangible proof of ten years of one's life and personal identity are gone within minutes, maybe even seconds.  Once burned, an object is gone forever.  The reality of impermanence strikes a deep chord.

For such an act to have power requires not only intention, but faith.  One must have faith in the miraculous, in the power of the subtle world, the graceful world of the guru, in the invisible processes of surrender and transformation.
